Band practice last night

We got so much accomplished last night at practice. We got 3 songs pretty much done, and stated a new one. Bryan couldn’t make it so no drums, but that was alright, it gave us a chance to sit down and really take our time mapping parts out and working on transitions. We’re kind of heading in the direction of blues rock metal band. Nothing wrong with that… I played some of the High on Fire stuff for Matt and Eric when we were finishing up. They thought it was awesome. Eric said that he read good things about the guitarist before. (who actually plays solos) The Face of Oblivion is my favorite on Blessed Black Wings. They’re all good songs that one just stands out for some reason.

For the sake of the public, but for JZ in particular, some of the goodies I'm sending to him:

Strapping Young Lad's new one

Lamb of God's new one

The Supersuckers (their 3 most recent ... Evil Powers of Rock and Roll, Motherfuckers Be Trippin' (HILARIOUS cover and liner art and notes, AWESOME music!) and Devil's Food.

P.J. Harvey's latest, Uh Huh Her (as always, great gutsy guitar tone by her)

Mudhoney's 2002 disc "Since We've Become Translucent"

Love Battery ... Between the Eyes, and their last (to date) release, Confusion Au Go Go from 2000, on CZ Records.

Scorpions: Unbreakable ... Klaus Meine's voice is as great as ever, and the riffs (tho they succumb to that downtowning thing) are very identifiably Scorps

Motorhead: Inferno ... saw them live in May at BB King's Club on 42nd in NYC ... Lemmy's 60 or so, and he's still kicking ass of guys ONE THIRD his age!!! This disc has some of their best stuff on it ... ain't no slowin' these gents down ... the youngun's could learn a thing or 10 about straight-up ass-kicking, brain-crushing music!

Oops, forgot one ... something a coworker/connoisseur passed on to me ... a VERY cool pair of live sets from Priest back in late '75, at Reading and in London ... it's them doing the classic material from "Sad Wings ... " ... Ripper, Tyrant, Victim of Changes, Dreamer Deceiver/Deceiver ... again, points out just how weak the Warped Fest wannabees are ... sad, but true ... you go to see 'em, try to like 'em, and you just can't ... and I only went to Warped to see the Rollins Band (tho there was this cool 3-girl band from NYC called Bottom ... super Sabbathy riffs ... find their stuff if you can).
